PURPOSE OF THE JOB: 

Maternity Leave cover for Trade Communications Manager, North America role. 
This 4-month temporary role includes creation and execution of trade communications with retail and wholesale partners; management of ongoing trade marketing administrative duties; and implementing several special projects to ultimately ensure the readiness of the North American trade to market and sell Fiji once borders open.

DUTIES AND RESPONSINILITIES

  •  Support the Tourism Fiji team with on-going trade activities to maximize partner engagement including but not limited to:
    • Creating and distributing ongoing relevant eDMs/communications for wholesale and retail partners. 
    • Ensuring trade partners have relevant marketing tools to support upcoming consumer campaigns. 
    • Sourcing regional partners for inclusion in brand campaigns.
    • Working with Head Office on creation of tactical landing pages.

       
  • Assist with Special Projects:
    • Support planning and execution of virtual trade event to be held on July 22
      • Tasks include working with HO to collect all videos from partners, invite and rsvp management, technical support, Tourism Fiji presentation creation support, post event survey and other duties as assigned.
         
    • Collaborate with Fiji Head Office and global team on final content and ultimate launch of the new Matai Specialist platform
      • Manage the launch of trade campaigns focused on the rollout of the new Matai Specialist platform
         
    • Assist with trade marketing plan and strategy to ensure distribution partner readiness for Fiji’s border re-opening:
      • Execute a distribution partner survey to gather post COVID business updates and product intel
      • Identify new distribution partners for mainstream and niche markets
      • Create a three-month trade marketing calendar of re-opening activities to include all trade advertising, webinars/trainings/events, eCommunications and consortia activities.
         
    • Find and implement a low-cost and effective CRM system to streamline various trade databases

       
  • Provide ongoing administrative support for NAM Office to include:
    • Marketing administration to include Image Library approvals, SharePoint file maintenance, etc
    • Approve new Matai Specialists in platform and be point person for Matai technical queries
    • ​​​​​​​Update/maintain various partner databases
    • Update relevant sections of bi-monthly board report as directed by Regional Manager
    • Submit, process and record invoices relating to trade partnerships and campaigns
    • Any other duties as directed by the Regional Manager

Start and End Dates
Monday, June 28th to Friday, October 29th, 2021

Terms
This position will be treated as an Independent Contractor; the successful person will be responsible for any and all taxes due. No additional benefits, other than parking at the TF offices, will be provided. 

Total compensation will be US$14,000 for the four-month project. Payment will be made in two instalments:

  1. August 31- $7,000
    At this point a review of the contractors’ work will be made and Tourism Fiji will have the right to sever the contract if services are deemed to be not suitable
     
  2. October 29th - $7,000 upon completion of all projects as assigned.

Working Hours
Anticipated hours are approximately 20- 30 per week and includes one day per week, at manager’s discretion, from 9am to 5pm in the Tourism Fiji office, located near Los Angeles
Other duties may be performed at the contractor’s discretion.

 KEY REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Experience
Ideal candidate has strong skills and current experience in marketing to the North American travel trade with a focus on digital communications strategy and business development. Knowledge of the South Pacific is desirable but not required.
